A Santa Claus Story
December 23, 2024
Ever wonder where Santa Claus came from? I don't think that's something a lot of us truly think about, except that we're willing to accept what's been told to us as kids; a jolly fat man with a long white beard that delivers Christmas presents to the kids each year by climbing down the chimney. Yep, that's the gist of it. Well, there's more. Besides the daydreaming and pretending of a jolly man that climbs down the chimney to deliver presents, Santa Claus is based on the Dutch traditions of St. Nicholas; a Christian bishop known for his generosity for giving gifts. And eventually, over the course of many years, St. Nicholas became quite popular and the name Santa Claus evolved from Nick's Dutch nickname, Sinter Klaas.
It wasn't until the 1800's that Santa Claus started having that all to familiar look and shortly after, that's when the stores started advertising the gift giving concept as part of the Christmas celebrations.
Throughout time, Santa Claus' popularity soared and everything Christmas bloommed, e.g. movies, music, decorations, etc. FUN FACT: Hallmark has produced 300+ Christmas movies and for some reason, you can never get too tired of them; they're feel good movies.
And with the New Year around the corner, let's not forget that the Lake Forest Shores HOA fees have increased to $440 per month. So, don't forget to make that adjustment with your financial institute. It's unfortunate, but everything in California keeps going up. I guess it isn't as bad as the 22% auto insurance increases. Thank you CDI for protecting consumers from being bled dry by the high cost of insurance companies. (Sarcasm)
As a reminder, even though we live in a considerably safe neighborhood, please take precautionary measures to make sure that you lock your doors and close your garages. One of our neighbors had property stolen from their garage; an electronic scooter. All it took was one time for their garage door to be open in the middle of the night.
You can deter potential intruders and protect your belongings from theft by making sure your garage door remains closed when not in use. I have seen garage doors open all day/night within our community and a lot of these garages have personal property stored in them. It might not happen right away, but at some point you might realize that you've become a victim. Be safe and try not to leave your personal belongings unattended.
On that note, I wish everyone at Lake Forest Shores a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Until next year...
