Pets are great! We can all agree pets make great companions due to their loyalty, unconditional love, playful nature, friendship and protection. Let's face it, we love our pets! It shows because of the nonstop picture taking and how we proudly display those photos around the house, office and/or social media outlets for all to see, but there is one thing that most people do not want to see - "your pet's waste".
It is true that not picking up after your pet is a nuissance to your neighbors. Proper exercise and control of your pet is required within the premises. Every pet owner is responsible for picking up waste material left by their pet and disposing of it properly. Picking up after your pet isn't just a courtesy, but a healthy and environmentally sound thing to do.
All dogs harbor a coli form bacteria that can make people, especially kids, sick. The bacterium includes E-Coli and Salmonella, which can be harmful to both pets and people. Cat feces can also be hazardous as it may contain parasites such as roundworms and toxoplasmosis, which can adversely affect humans and other animals.
Anyways, it is the law! Many places of living require you to pick up after your pet. Even if there is no restriction, cleaning up after your pet is always the right thing to do and your neighbors will appreciate your good manners.
Remember, no one likes to step in pet waste and spread it into home, car(s) and business. Be respectful and join the many responsible pet owners within the Lake Forest Shores community by cleaning up after your pet(s).
