Marching Through 2021
March 21, 2021
It's time to smell the flowers, Spring is here! It reminds me of a saying that was told to me by a co-worker during my early years - "If you can make it past January and February, you'll March right through the rest of the year". To this day, it gives me hope that I'll make it through life's difficult moments each year. We left a year full of uncertainty, but still holding on for the best to happen in the "somewhat" new year and enjoy what was taken from us exactly one year ago; Spring time & the great outdoors!
Yep, exactly one year ago the nation went into lockdown. Grocery stores couldn't keep up with the high demands for toilet paper, water, masks, sanitizers and food for many weeks. Small businesses and any other establishment considered nonessential had to close their doors for an unknown / unspecified amount of time. It was a scary time of uncertainty!
Now it seems we're moving towards the so-called, "normal". Traffic is back to being heavier, people are out doing their shopping, schools are permitting in class learning, sports and campus events to resume, restaurants are making indoor dining available, vaccines are being distributed nationwide and the media is reporting lower numbers than previously stated when Orange County was in the purple tier, but not without limitations. Accordingly, masks and distancing is still required / recommended to be safe and businesses have to abide with a minimum capacity in order to remain open.
By the way, gyms are now allowed to reopen too. This will definitely help those of us who gained extra poundage during the lockdown. If you don't remember, every resident at Lake Forest Shores has a gym membership at the Beach and Tennis Clubhouse. You pay for it each month, so use it. The operating hours at the Beach and Tennis Clubhouse are now 7:00am - 10:00pm, the pools will be open, food and beverages will be allowed once more on the premises, GUESTS (2 per day / per household) will be able to come back to enjoy outdoor amenities, but with safety precautions in place; so wear your masks, keep your distance from one another. Also, a COVID waiver needs to be signed by everyone that plans to enter the premises, including your guests.
For more information or to place a reservation, you'll need to call the Beach and Tennis Clubhouse front desk @ (949) 837-6100.
Regarding our own Lake Forest Shores, there isn't much to report. The board of directors meeting and agenda for March 16, 2021 has not been posted, so we'll keep an eye for it to find out what the Board discussed. Also, the website address for your online HOA account has changed to the following: www.ch-pm.com/hoa. Of course, it can easily be accessed via Crummack Huseby by using the "CH Connect Enhanced" link from the Client Login dropdown menu in the upper right of the website.
In addition, the parking enforcement program will start April 1, 2021. Residents who park their cars in the community areas will have to obtain a new parking decal from Courtesy Patrol Specialists. Vehicles that are stored in garages will not have to take any action. Previously issued parking decals will no longer be valid, so make sure you take care of this ASAP. For your convenience, I've attached a copy of the parking permit application to be downloaded. If you have questions regarding the process for obtaining a parking decal, and the parking rules and regulations, select the link to view / download the parking enforcement program literature that was mailed back mid-February.
As for everything else happening around us, the month of March observed and celebrated a few holidays / events; International Women's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Pi Day (Yes, it is spelled correctly), National Read Across America Day, Respect Your Cat Day (It's true, it exists), Plant a Flower Day and so many more, plus it is the first day of Spring!
Hmmm... Does that mean spring cleaning? I'm not sure about you, but I will probably start cleaning my window blinds. I'm sure there isn't anything set in stone regarding a mandatory spring cleaning, but it feels good knowing you live in a clean home.
Anyways, next month is EASTER !!! It will be time for egg decorating fun and the traditional Easter egg hunt with the kids.
