Election of Board Directors
September 23, 2016
Did you vote? Once again, it was time to vote for your HOA Board election (October 18, 2016), but where were the candidate solicitation notices to all homeowners? Most may, or may not, have received voting ballots listing the incumbents, but no other correspondence, Candidate Nomination Form, for those interested in participating on the Board. Unfortunately, the Association did not invite candidates to submit statements related to the election. If this is the case, it would result in an unfair advantage to keep the current members on the Board. Moreover, the ballot indicated a two (2) year term. (It states one (1) year in the bylaws.) Notwithstanding, do you know who are the board members representing the Lake Forest Shores community and making decisions on your behalf? The tabulated results should be publicized to the community within 15 days, but maybe the Post Office is running slow this time of year. We are nearing the holiday season. ^.^
Below is a copy of the "Irrevocable Secret Ballot", but what was sent prior to allow other homeowners to get their name on the ballot?
As you can see, the three (3) incumbents were listed and everyone else would have had to write their name in the blanks below. How are the voters able to cast their votes for those handwritten in the blanks? What about the ability to solicite your candidacy to others? As for the fourth board member, she was not listed because the term is for two (2) years and the position will not expire until the following year.
Lastly, for those who are unaware, there is one (1) vacant position on the Board for anyone who is interested. If you or someone you know might be interested, please contact Trisha Garite: trisha.garite@associa.us.
